There will be zero tolerance enforcement towards drivers using hand-held devices during the Distracted Driving Campaign, which will run from Monday, January 14, to Sunday, January 20, 2019.
Using your phone and other devices to talk, text, check maps or choose a playlist while you’re behind the wheel all count as distracted driving. Those who are caught can expect a fine upwards of $615, three-day licence suspension and three demerit points. Novice drivers might have their license cancelled and and removal from the Graduated Licensing System.
Along with the Distracted Driving Campaign, TPS will also be running Rush Hour Route campaign from Monday, January 14, to Friday, February 1, 2019. Members of the public can expect zero tolerance enforcement targeting vehicles blocking and congesting rush hour routes.
