Toys”R”Us Canada is expanding with 11 new stores, including two dedicated Babies”R”Us stores, opening summer 2023. All new rooms + spaces stores will also have a 1,500 to 2,500-square-foot Toys”R”Us shop in shop. (CNW Group/Toys “R” Us (Canada) Ltd.)
The new Toys”R” Us stores will open at former Bed Bath & Beyond locations, allowing Toys”R”Us to reach new neighbourhoods across the country.
“Our new locations will have an elevated in-store experience with bigger retail shops from our vendor partners,” said Doug Putman, of Putman Investments in a news release.
Doug Putman recently acquired former Bed Bath & Beyond locations for a new Canadian home store brand — rooms + spaces.
rooms + spaces will also feature a small Toys”R” Us space.
These new locations, along with the addition of Toys”R”Us shop-in-shop sections in rooms + spaces stores, will provide over 300,000 square feet of retail space and bring the total number of Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us stores in Canada to 107.
In addition to the store openings, two existing Toys”R”Us stores in Burlington and Newmarket in Ontario will introduce expanded books and gifting sections for adults, featuring popular brands like like Umbra, Pavillion and Giftcraft and bestselling books.
The company is also hiring 30 to 40 associates for each new store opening, with more positions expected to be added leading up to the holiday season. Interested candidates can apply online for these opportunities.
