There are a variety of ways to support the Ukrainian community in Calgary, like fundraisers, donations, or by putting your support in a local Ukrainian community business. It is a perfect opportunity to show support and solidarity, but also to learn a few things about the rich Ukrainian culture right here in our city. Many of the locations on this list are running promotions as well to help support Ukrainian foundations or efforts, so be sure to inquire about fundraising, too!

Baba Jenny’s operates out of Mannville in Southern Alberta, but lucky for those in Calgary, they also offer their foods in many grocery stores city-wide. You can find these fine and authentic foods at most Co-Op stores, Safeway stores, Sobeys, or Calgary’s only Save-On Foods and only IGA.

Who is he? The Perogy Guy is a Calgarian serving up plates of handmade and authentic Ukrainian food. You can catch his family recipes at rural markets surrounding Calgary, and you can order several frozen dishes online for delivery (minimum $50 order for free delivery).

Vykrutas School of Ukrainian Dance

Living in Alberta, there is a chance you’ve had the delight of watching a Shumka Dance performance. The traditional Ukrainian dancing can be viewed via a few troupes in Calgary. And with restrictions lifting, expect them to start scheduling more live shows. This coming April, the Vykrutas School of Ukrainian Dance is hosting a Benefit Performance for Ukraine at the University Theatre.
