Edmonton’s John Janzen Nature Centre has a new look!

City of Edmonton
The City of Edmonton with the support of the Edmonton Nature Centre Foundation (ENCF) spent the last couple of years and $340,000 on updating the educational facility which is also Canada’s oldest municipally-operated nature centre.
Upgrades include the Tegler Discovery Zone and exhibit room.
John Janzen Nature Centre gives kids the viewpoint of smaller animals out in the wild. The John Janzen Exhibit Room can be a nice way to relax after all the play and allows for a much closer look at different animal and bug species.
Other great learning opportunities now offered here include access to the private pond where you can watch for ducks, Compost School (another outdoor exhibit), or the Honeybee Hive.
For low admission rates, you and your family get access to all sorts of fun ways to learn about local animals and insects.
After an afternoon of gaining all this knowledge, you can take to the nearby River Valley Trails to explore more of Edmonton’s wildlife and their natural habitats. The parking lot is at a major trailhead for paths that can take you east, west, or to the bridges leading downtown.
The Centre is in the same River Valley area as Fort Edmonton Park and has helped people of all ages get back to nature in the city for over 40 years. It is also a convenient outing for anyone in or visiting Edmonton.
John Janzen Nature Centre is now open seven days a week.
