Established over 40 years ago, the Wascana Winter Festival, formerly known as Waskimo, holds the distinction of being Regina’s oldest running Winter Festival. This year’s festivities, scheduled from February 16 to 19, promise a vibrant array of activities and events for attendees to enjoy. Mayor Sandra Masters has officially proclaimed February 19 as Wascana Winter Festival Day, marking a significant moment in the festival’s history.
The Regina & Area Branch of the National Association of Federal Retirees will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a Magic and Music Brunch at the Wascana Country Club on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Sunday, February 18, festivities at the Legislative Building will feature sleigh rides, readings from members of the Saskatchewan Writers Guild, Snow Cricket demonstrations, public skating, and cross-country skiing on groomed trails provided by the Regina Ski Club, hot chocolates by the Silk Society.
Tours of the Legislative Building will be available throughout the afternoon, offering visitors a glimpse into the province’s rich history and culture.

A highlight of the festival will be the free Community Concert, Li’l Shad a story of Ujjma, taking place on Monday, February 19 at 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. This musical production, a Saskatchewan-based story centred on the early experiences of Black Saskatchewan Homesteaders, is a collaborative effort between the festival, the Regina Symphony Orchestra, and the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum. A Graduate Artist’s reception and talk at the University of Regina will showcase the talents of emerging artists, sponsored by the U of R Alumni Association.

Do note that there will be no preferred parking. However, visitors can use the designated free public parking spots in and around Wascana Park. Due to the large crowds expected, it is preferred that visitors use public transit, park off-site, carpool, or walk in.
