Edmonton International Street Performers Festival

The Edmonton International Street Performers Festival was the first of its kind in North America. Now in its 29th year, it is known worldwide for its amazing artists and generous audiences. Since 1984, almost four million people have played in the streets and shared a laugh with us at StreetFest. That’s a lot of smiles and chuckles.

Sand on Whyte

 

Sand Carving is a world-wide performance art phenomenon, much like ice carving, and it’s coming to Old Strathcona.

Christmas in Zoo-ly and Arctic Sea Ice Day

Did you know it’s winter in Australia right now?

Here at the Edmonton Valley Zoo we celebrate Christmas with our Australian animals. Join us for Australian animal crafts, airbrushed face painting, a scavenger hunt and so much more!

We will also be celebrating Arctic Sea Ice Day in partnership with Polar Bears International. Every summer, the polar bears of Hudson Bay are forced ashore when the sea ice melts in July. We invite you to join us in Arctic Shores to learn about global warming, animal adaptations, and what you can do to save the sea ice that polar bears depend on.

Watch the FIFA World Cup Brazil games on a huge outdoor screen

The City of Edmonton is hosting free viewing parties for the remaining 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil games. Watch the semi-finals and finals on a 10 feet x 6 feet HD LED screen at Centennial Plaza, behind the downtown library. There will be soccer-themed fun for the whole family, including balloon artists and face painters. Food trucks will also be on-site.
