If you are looking for some extreme water fun, head to the banks of the Exploits River in Grand Falls-Windsor for some adrenaline rush.
Whitewater kayaking is a great adrenaline-filled sport that’s fun for the whole family! Rafting Newfoundland offers a multitude of experiences that are fit for all ages, with comfort levels and seafaring experiences.
There are four different courses for kayaking offered by Rafting Newfoundland on the largest and longest river on the island:
Exploits River Float
Embark on a 3.5-hour Exploits River Float for a relaxing and scenic adventure. Suitable for all ages and skill levels, this trip covers 12km of calm waters. Stay dry during spring or fall excursions, while summer offers swimming opportunities. Indulge in a finger food charcuterie board amidst beautiful surroundings, perfect for wildlife spotting and photography. There is no need for swimsuits, as comfort is prioritized unless you choose to swim.
Badger Chute
The “Badger Chute” course is offered to those who are just starting out. The minimum age to enter the raft is six years old. The course offers ‘very low’ odds of falling out and is ‘low’ intensity. It’s a five-hour, 12-kilometre trip that can best be described as a relatively gentle jaunt, with some rough patches, down the Exploits River.
Exploits Canyon
This two-hour rafting adventure offers stunning red rock scenery, optional cliff jumping, exhilarating rapids, and an epic wave. No experience or swimming ability is necessary. Expert guides ensure safety as you face your fears and enjoy the best whitewater run on the island.
Extreme!
This, as you might imagine, is the most challenging of Rafting Newfoundland’s courses. You’re guaranteed to fall out here, too! Another 3-kilometre, two-hour journey down the coursing ravines of the Exploits River awaits. Another fifteen-foot cliff jumps to start, followed by a pulsating ride downstream through rapids and yet more (smaller) cliff jumps. Be sure to bring your cojones for the Extreme offerings of this section of the river!
