The 1.2 km long skating trail over the famous cranberry bog in Bala will open this Friday, January 19th, for day skating and Saturday, January 20th, for night skating.
Home of Johnston Cranberries, Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery offers plenty of winter activities when the cranberry bog freezes over during the season.
Of the many activities, perhaps the most famous is the 1.2-kilometre ice skating trail surrounded by a unique setting: 12 acres of cranberries.
After a weak start to winter, which pushed the standard December opening of the trail, Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery will open the ice skating trail to the public on January 19th, weather-dependent.
The ice skating trail will open on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Saturdays, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the trail will be lit for night skating.
Admission costs $15 (weekdays) to $19 (weekends) for adults and $12 (weekdays) to $15 (weekends) for children under 12.
Night skating costs $28 per person.
Rentals are available for $15/half day on a first come/first served basis.
In addition to ice skating, you can snowshoe or hike five spectacular trails around the property, rent a 1/4 acre private rink on top of cranberry bog to play hockey, participate in Bog to Bottle, certified “Canadian Signature Experience,” have a foodie experience by choosing activities like Fondue & Wine on the Patio or enjoying various delights made on the farm.
