More specifically, the eclipse’s path of totality will be over a small portion of southeastern Ontario; under this path, eclipse views are granted 100% totality meaning a full solar eclipse.

The path of totality moves across much of Lake Ontario, leaving many towns on the southeast with excellent opportunities for this once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of the sun and moon.

Many of these towns and small cities in southeastern* Ontario have official viewing parties planned and are expected to be quite busy!

*We have included towns in central Ontario on the list.

Cornwall

The Eclipse Party in the Park event in Cornwall will take place at the city’s Lamoureux Park.

The waterfront park has a host of amenities, trails, a garden, and borders downtown Cornwall.

For the April 8th solar eclipse party, the city has arranged for live music and entertainment, a dancefloor with DJ, an inflatable park for kids, a drum circle, and food trucks.

South Dundas — Morrisburg & Ingleside

Halfway between these two southeastern Ontario towns is the Upper Canada Village Living History Museum.

The open-air and outdoor museums are normally closed during April but are open especially for the event. The event is sold out, but South Dundas has plenty of parks to visit for more eclipse viewing space, and major parks and beaches are on the St. Lawrence River shores.

Total Eclipse: 3:24:35 to 3:26:20 p.m.

The city is adding even more to the party with a free shuttle service, and a market of food truck and artistic vendors.

Partial eclipse begins: 2:10:55 p.m. to 4:35:10 p.m.
