Winter in Mississauga: 2026 Festivals and Outdoor Adventures

Everyone is aware of the fantastic health benefits of outdoor exercise. But getting outside and playing with Mother Nature shouldn’t only be reserved for the spring and summer months. There are plenty of fun and exciting activities to engage in during the winter months, especially within Mississauga.

Whether you are looking for a way to entertain the whole family or need suggestions for an impressive first date, we invite you to explore twenty outdoor things to do this winter in Mississauga.

Outdoor Activities

1. Visit Culham Trail

Culham Trail runs from Erindale Park all the way to the border of Brampton. This scenic route extends approximately nine miles and is divided into three sections. Culham Trail is perfect for hiking, running, or even cross-country skiing. The secluded pathways offer a gorgeous mini-getaway where one can truly connect with nature.

Address: 4300 Riverwood Park Lane, Mississauga

2. Toboggan at Erindale Park

Mississauga is known for its expansive parks with lots of winding hills. While there is plenty of variety in terms of both grounds and height of slopes, we recommend Erindale Park if you are looking for a sledding thrill. The hills in this area offer deeper gradients, providing a longer and more exciting ride.

Address: 1695 Dundas St W, Mississauga

3. Build a snowman in Mississauga Valley Park

Whether it’s snow angels or snowmen, unleash the inner child within you and enjoy a romp in the snow at Mississauga Valley Park. Play like a kid and enjoy an afternoon with the entire family.

Address: 1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd, Mississauga

4. Go Ice Skating at Celebration Square

If you aren’t celebrating winter on the ice, you are missing out! Outdoor ice rinks are a fabulous way to keep fit, enjoy the fresh air, and have some fun. In the heart of Mississauga, Celebration Square offers ice skating on its outdoor rink, seven days a week. The rink can accommodate up to 60 people and offers skate rentals.

Address: City Centre Dr, Mississauga

5. Hike along Riverwood

Become captivated by the magic of Mother Nature along the picturesque pathways found at the Riverwood Conservatory. The colder months offer an exclusive view of winter wildlife, especially birds. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery and a tranquil environment-perfect for a romantic stroll with a loved one.

Address: 4300 Riverwood Park Ln, Mississauga

Cost: Free (donations are encouraged).

6. Walk For Eden Food for Change

Eden Food for Change has been providing meals, employment skills, and social advocacy in Mississauga since 1989. On February 28 (the coldest day of winter), an annual walk is held to raise funds for this important cause. Get the family together and enjoy giving back while getting in some brisk exercise.

Address: 3185 Unity Dr #2, Mississauga

7. Explore the boardwalk at Rattray Marsh Conservation Area

The Rattray Marsh Conservation Area boasts a fantastic lakefront bog nestled between Toronto and Burlington. Take a walk across the boardwalk and check out the gorgeous winter view. Lake Ontario’s air makes this hike extra brisk, so be sure to bundle up and don’t forget to take your camera.

Address: 1180 Lakeshore Rd W, Mississauga

8. Find Tranquillity at Kariya Park

Kariya Park has been coined a ‘sister city‘ within Mississauga to build a bridge between Japan and North America. The initiative began in the 1950s to address the conflict caused by the Second World War. In 1992, Mississauga unveiled this Japanese-inspired garden featuring sculptures in honour of the nations’ partnership. While you can experience most of its splendour during the spring and summer, the grounds are still available to be explored during the winter as well. Find peace amidst the sweeping branches of the cherry trees while taking in the splendid views.

Address: 3620 Kariya Dr, Mississauga

9. Stroll Around Port Credit

Even in the winter, a walk around Port Credit offers a beautiful view of the waterfront. Visit the lighthouse as one of the main attractions. Or treat yourself to a hot drink from one of the many restaurants and cafes within the area.

Address: Lakeshore Road West, Mississauga

10. Glide Along the Meadowwood Outdoor Natural Ice Rink

Bring your skates and enjoy fun on the ice at the Meadowwood ice rink. It is one of many neighborhood ice rinks, making it easy and convenient for friends and family to gather together for a day of brisk air and fun winter exercise. Pro tip: pack along with a thermos of hot chocolate when you want to break and warm up.

11. Explore Lakeview Promenade Park

Slip on a pair of snow pants and stomp through the picturesque grounds, either as a solo expedition or with a group. Catch a stunning view of this famous Marina from the boardwalk, and keep in mind that the area offers volleyball courts and picnic grounds in the summer months.

Address: 800 Lakefront Promenade, Mississauga

12. Let the dogs run at Jack Darling Memorial Park

Remember that regardless of the weather, your dog loves fresh air and exercise too! Suit up your furry best friend in a winter dog jacket and head to Jack Darling Memorial Park. The off-leash dog park is one of the most popular attractions, accommodating approximately 1000 people. Make new friends and meet their dogs.

Address: Lakeshore Rd W, 1180 Lakeshore Rd W, Mississauga

13. Stroll Along Streetsville

Treat yourself or your family to a walk along Streetsville, a quaint town coined ‘the Village in the City,’ within the perimeters of Mississauga. It is home to dozens of charming, historical buildings, restaurants, cafes, and locally-owned businesses. This area is particularly festive during the holiday season. Enjoy some ‘hometown’ pride and artistic offerings, an escape from the GTA’s bustling energy.

14. Go Back In Time at Benares House Grounds

If you are a lover of period pieces, travel back in time with a visit to Benares House. This stunning Georgian estate provides strolling grounds amidst a striking and tranquil setting. The home also offers the perfect backdrop for pictures, including impressive log cabins.

Address: 1507 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga

15. Enjoy a Winter Walk

Why not enjoy a walk along one of Mississauga’s trails to keep yourself active? The city has many great trails to choose from.

16. Visit Port Credit Memorial Park

Who says you can’t discover park areas in the winter? Strap on a pair of cross-country skis, or slip into snowshoes and tromp through the elements along with this expansive property. Along with exercise in the fresh air, you can discover stunning views along the Credit River.

Address: 40 Lakeshore Rd E, Mississauga

17. Take Flight at Paul Coffey Park

Paul Coffey Park is one of the larger recreational areas in Mississauga. Build a snowman while checking out Mimico Creek’s view, or hike through one of the many walking trails. One of this park’s unique features is a CF-100 airplane statue, which pays homage to the nearby Pearson Airport. Imagine yourself taking a flight, only to return in the summer months!

Address: 3430 Derry East Rd. Mississauga

18. Cross Country Ski at Aquitane Park

Aquitane Park offers extensive trails that are perfect for cross-country skiing. It is the ideal way to get fresh air and exercise in the outdoors. If you are a fan of outdoor running, the wooded areas offer safe and visible paths where you can be one with nature while surrounded by stunning forestry and wildlife.
