The Canadian carrier earned the title for the seventh time and third year in a row, solidifying its position as a leading name in leisure travel.
The awards ceremony took place at the Air and Space Museum’s Hall of Eight Columns, with around 500 guests in attendance, including airline executives and uniformed crew members from across the globe.
Qatar Airways won the World’s Best Airline award for this year. Singapore Airlines, a five-time winner of the top title, placed second overall this year. Cathay Pacific Airways took third, Emirates came in fourth, and ANA All Nippon Airways rounded out the top five.
Other Canadian airlines also featured in this year’s global rankings. Air Canada placed 19th among the World’s Top 100 Airlines. Porter Airlines ranked 44th, followed by Air Transat at 60th, WestJet at 75th, and Air Canada Rouge at 94th.
Air Transat first received the World’s Best Leisure Airline award in 2012 and has since won in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024. It was also named North America’s Best Leisure Airline in 2022. The award evaluates customer feedback on service quality both onboard and at airports.
In the leisure airline category, Sunwing Airlines ranked fourth.
Porter Airlines and WestJet both secured third place in the World’s Best Regional Airlines category. Air Canada Rouge earned third place among the World’s Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airlines and ranked fourth in North America’s Best Low-Cost Airlines category.
The World Airline Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” have been presented annually since 1999. Organized by UK-based Skytrax, the awards are based on the largest international passenger satisfaction survey, which this year collected over 22.3 million eligible entries between September 2024 and May 2025. Responses came from more than 100 nationalities, and results included over 325 airlines. The survey was offered in eight languages, including English, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese.
