Canadians and visitors can access 171 national historic sites, 47 national parks, and five national marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada without paying gate admission on Saturday, July 1st of this year.

Announcing the free admission, Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister said in a statement, ” I encourage everyone to make the most of this national holiday by learning more about our country’s diverse history or connecting with friends and family in nature. These treasured places offer visitors unique opportunities to have open discussions about what this day means to them and how we can all work together to listen to and accept one another. Happy Canada Day!.”

Lockage along the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site and the Rideau Canal National Historic Site, as well as at Québec’s historic canals, will also be free for the day.

Parks Canada admission is free year-round for youth 17 and under to all Parks Canada-administered places.
