BMO is overhauling one of Canada’s best-known loyalty programs.
The bank announced that AIR MILES will transition to a new program called Blue Rewards, launching in summer 2026, and that the program will continue to be operated by a BMO subsidiary.
What Changes For Existing AIR MILES Members:
For existing AIR MILES collectors, the change is designed to be automatic. Miles will convert to Blue Points at an equivalent value, with no action required from members.
Collector cards will continue to work during the transition, and BMO AIR MILES credit and debit cardholders can keep using their cards without interruption.
AIR MILES collectors will still be able to earn and redeem rewards at Shell Canada through May 25, 2026, and in locations in Alberta through March 2, 2026. Collectors can continue earning Miles at Shell using their BMO AIR MILES credit card through May 25, 2026.
Blue Rewards Program:
Blue Rewards is being positioned as a simpler system built around one type of reward point. Cash and Dream Miles will be consolidated, and members will earn and redeem Blue Points through a redesigned Blue Rewards app.
BMO clients will also be able to access the program directly through BMO’s mobile and online banking platforms.
Travel redemptions will move to a streamlined booking experience for flights, hotels, and car rentals powered by Expedia Group.
Members will also continue earning points on groceries and food delivery by scanning receipts in the app, along with bonus points at grocery stores and wholesale clubs across Canada.
The partner network will expand beyond the existing 400 brands. New partners include Porter Airlines, Accor hotel brands such as Fairmont and Novotel, Instacart, and multiple MTY Group restaurant chains.
Blue Rewards will also introduce new earning options for BMO clients, including debit card rewards on gas, groceries, and EV charging. A new lineup of BMO Blue Rewards credit cards is planned, with a pre-launch waitlist now open.
According to BMO, full program details will continue to roll out ahead of the summer 2026 launch.
