If you want to do something unique alone, with friends or as a late Valentine’s Day celebration, register for Alberta Craft Council’s snow sculpting workshop.
With the guidance of professional snow sculptors and members of the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta, you will learn how to bring small blocks of snow into magnificent works of art.
Participants can sign up in teams of up to four individuals, or as adventurous individuals, and will be mentored through the creative process.
The event takes place in the campground area adjacent to the Snow Valley Ski Club on Saturday, February 18th, where participants will work in teams of up to four. Each team will be mentored through the process of turning designs by renowned artists including Ritchie Velthuis and Christian Denis into a beautiful snow sculpture.
The snow sculpting event will take place at the Snow Valley Ski Club in the campground area adjacent to the ski club. Snow tools will be provided by Silver Skate Festival, and the preparation of the snow and location of the sculptures are sponsored by Snow Valley Ski Club.
The workshop costs $120 and lasts approximately six hours. You are welcome to bring a bag lunch or purchase food and drinks at the main Snow Valley ski lodge.
The finished sculptures will remain on site as part of The Enchanted Valley, and are sure to be a spectacular sight to behold.
Washrooms and warming areas are conveniently located near the snow sculptures, as well as ample parking.
Just remember, this event takes place outside, so make sure to dress for the weather.
Snow Sculpting Workshop
What: Learn how to create snow sculptures with professional artists in the beautiful Edmonton Rainbow Valley. Have fun and be active as you learn how to sculpt snow with experienced snow sculptors and members of the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta.
