Alberta Offering Additional Vaccine Doses of Pfizer or Moderna to Those Who Got AstraZeneca or Mixed Doses

Alberta has announced that additional mRNA vaccine doses will be available to those who received the AstraZeneca vaccine or mixed doses of mRNA vaccines.

Alberta says this change is due to the fact that some places outside of Canada do not accept visitors who have been vaccinated with Covishield/AstraZeneca or mixed doses.

Who will get additional doses:

Albertans who want to travel to a jurisdiction that does not accept visitors who have been vaccinated with Covishield/AstraZeneca or mixed doses can get additional mRNA vaccines at least 28 days after a second dose.

This means that Albertans who received a combination of AstraZeneca, Pfizer or Moderna, can receive a third dose of vaccine to match the vaccine brand of Pfizer or Moderna or can choose two doses of Pfizer or Moderna if they received two doses of AstraZeneca.

Immunization Records

Albertans who need immunization records can download them from MyHealth Records. Albertans who are travelling can also use their hard copy record that was provided at the time of vaccination.
