The small town of Bracebridge in central Ontario is at the heart of the Muskoka Region. Not only that, but the town also lies on the banks of the North Branch of the Muskoka River and near the shores of the lake. Bracebridge is surrounded by natural beauty no matter what areas of town you visit.
The Muskoka River is a great source of recreation in town and offers some unique sightseeing opportunities. While exploring Bracebridge, do so on a waterfall tour through town. There are three to see, and the tour will bring you right through town along the river.
High Falls
Let’s begin with the giant waterfall made up of several smaller waterfalls. High Falls, on the north side of town, is easy to access from a small parking area and short trail.
A footbridge leads over the water for more vantage points over the falls. Follow the trail, which is part of Trans-Canada trail, to see Little High Falls and Potts Falls.
Parking is available on the north and south sides of the river/bridge, with optimal viewing areas on both sides.
Wilson Falls
The most scenic of all waterfalls in Bracebridge, the Wilson Falls to the south of High Falls, offers more hiking opportunities. Take the short 1km access trail or the 4km scenic route (partially following Cedar Lane).
Step over the waterfall as it cascades under the footbridge and get views of the falls from below. Enjoy the river scenery lined with varied fall colours.
