Burger King Canada is giving some of its most familiar menu items a noticeable tune-up, focusing on taste rather than a full overhaul.
At the centre of the update is the Whopper, the chain’s signature burger. It still features more than a quarter pound of 100 percent flame-grilled beef, but now comes with a higher-quality bun and is packaged in a box instead of a wrapper.
Fries are also getting attention. They have been switched to a thinner, shoestring cut and are designed to balance a crisp outer layer with a soft, fluffy interior. The company says the idea is to make them strong enough to stand on their own, not just as a side.
Chicken nuggets have been reworked with a tempura-style coating. The chicken, sourced from Canadian farms, is meant to deliver more crunch on the outside while staying juicy inside. According to Burger King Canada, this version is its best yet.
Onion rings, already a popular pick, are now made with real onion slices and the same style of crispy batter, aiming for a more consistent bite and texture.
Tom Curtis, President of Burger King US and Canada, framed the changes as an effort to raise expectations across the menu, not just for one product. He noted that regular customers will notice the difference, while those who have not visited recently may find the experience improved.
The updated items became available nationwide on March 31, 2026, including through the brand’s app and website.
