Canada Post Unveils Stamp Honouring Blue Rodeo

Canada Post has released a commemorative stamp celebrating the 40-year legacy of Blue Rodeo, one of Canada’s most iconic bands. Formed in 1984, the group is widely recognized for its fusion of country, folk, and rock that helped shape Canadian music.

The stamp design, created by Jim Ryce, features portraits of the current lineup: Mike Boguski, Jimmy Bowskill, Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Colin Cripps, Bazil Donovan, and Glenn Milchem. It includes photography by Luis Mora, illustration by Katy Lemay, and floral elements from thegraphicsfairy.com.

Blue Rodeo, led by singer-songwriters Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, played its first live show in February 1985 and became a key part of Toronto’s Queen Street West music scene. Their debut album Outskirts was released in 1987, featuring the hit single “Try,” which earned the band double platinum certification and three JUNO Awards in 1989, including Group of the Year and Single of the Year.

Over the decades, Blue Rodeo has released more than a dozen albums, with tracks like “Lost Together,” “5 Days in May,” and “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet” achieving multi-platinum success. The band has earned 12 JUNO Awards, a Canadian Music Hall of Fame induction, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.

The band, which continues to record and tour, has sold over four million albums and played more than 2,500 shows—more than any other rock band at Toronto’s Massey Hall.
