Canada Strong Pass During Holidays: Free and Discounted Access to National Parks, Museums, and More Returns on December 12

The program that offers free entry and reduced-rate travel across a wide range of national sites returns for the holiday season.

Between December 12, 2025, and January 15, 2026, Parks Canada will waive admission fees at all national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas under its administration. A 25% reduction will apply to camping and roofed accommodations, including equipped camping, oTENTiks, MicrOcubes, cabins, yurts, tipis, Ôasis units, and historic stays. Regular charges still apply for items such as parking, reservations, firewood, mooring, hot springs entry, and guided programs.

National museums and the Plains of Abraham Museum are offering free admission for kids and teens 17 and under, plus 50% off for visitors aged 18 to 24. The discount applies to general admission only; special exhibitions and programs still carry their usual fees. Those who pre-purchased youth or child tickets will be reimbursed.

VIA Rail is offering free travel for children 17 and under when accompanied by an adult, along with 25% off fares for young adults 18 to 24. Refunds for previously purchased tickets are handled directly by VIA Rail.

Provincial and territorial museums and galleries are also participating, providing free admission for children and half-price entry for 18- to 24-year-olds.

The Canada Strong Pass applies automatically and does not require registration, tickets, or digital proof; you can visit Parks Canada locations, national museums, provincial and territorial museums and galleries, or VIA Rail to receive the listed benefits.

The pass can be used as often as visitors like, but capacity limits, winter closures, and reservation requirements still apply. And importantly, while admission is free, many sites will continue to operate on modified winter schedules—so checking ahead remains part of the adventure.
