The federal government has announced the launch of the 2026 Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program, which will offer 100,000 job opportunities for youth aged 15 to 30.
The hiring period will run from April 20 to July 20, with jobs posted and regularly updated on the Job Bank website and mobile app.
Canada Summer Jobs aims to help young people, particularly those facing employment barriers, gain valuable work experience. The program is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals granted refugee protection, provided they have a valid Social Insurance Number and legal work authorization. International students are not eligible.
Per the news release, CSJ has supported employers in creating more than 600,000 job opportunities for youth since 2019, including over 75,000 jobs in 2025.
2026 Canada Summer Jobs
What: Youth will be able to apply for Canada Summer Jobs in fields that interest them, such as the recreation sector, the food industry, marketing and tourism, among others. Jobs are also available in a variety of high-demand and growing fields, including housing construction and environmental protection. CSJ-funded jobs are full-time (30 to 40 hours per week), with a duration of 6 to 16 weeks (with the average duration being 8 weeks).
Who:
Eligible participants must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
