Events Description
This exciting event marks the completion of all construction and the return of full park services. The celebration will feature various activities across the park throughout the day.
Visit the Welcome Table at the Heritage Amphitheatre for the parkwide Scavenger Hunt, door prizes, and skill-testing challenges.
Prizes include Edmonton Elks Home Opener tickets (June 20), a round of golf at Rundle Park, a family pass to Fort Edmonton Park, and more.
Enjoy the Park’s natural beauty while exploring its new and rehabilitated amenities, including:
- The Heritage Amphitheatre with accessible hearing loop
- The Main Pavilion
- A new playground
- An accessible lakefront pathway
- Picnic shelters
- Improved and accessible washrooms
- A shared-use pathway
- Fun, food and activities
Enjoy live performances in the Heritage Amphitheatre before heading to the City Services Showcase. The Showcase includes Outdoor Adventure Experiences alongside activities with educational interpreters from the John Walter Museum, John Janzen Nature Centre, Muttart Conservatory and Edmonton Valley Zoo.
Explore other activities around the Park:
- Learn about the City’s Capital City Clean Up, Root for Trees, Waste and Recycling services, Park Rangers and Animal Care and Control.
- Check out the newest wrapped ETS bus, featuring art inspired by conversations with Indigenous seniors.
- Head over to meet Edmonton Fire Rescue Services firefighters and explore a firetruck.
- Experience Fort Edmonton Park’s Playing through History activities.
- Savour delicious food from Lift Me Up on the Lake restaurant in the Main Pavilion and different food trucks throughout the park.
Public art unveiling
- Admire the newest public art installation, Misi-mîkisak, created by local artist Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐘᐣ //. The Edmonton Arts Council is hosting a small public ceremony beginning at 11 a.m, and Cheyenne will be on site to discuss her art.

Two bus routes offer service directly to Hawrelak Park:
Route 51 (University-Castle Downs via Westmount)
Route 902 (University-NAIT via Wîhkwêntôwin)
Both buses stop on Groat Road outside of the park. A paved pathway provides accessible entry into the park from the southbound stop.
Since parking will be limited, please plan ahead. Edmontonians are encouraged to take ETS and use free and paid Park & Ride options along the Capital Line LRT. Visit edmonton.ca/Transit for route and schedule information or use the trip planner. Other options include biking, walking and carpooling, with new bike racks and improved trails now available throughout the park.
ETS will also offer a free shuttle service between the Windsor Car Park (9217 116 St.) and Hawrelak Park. Parking is available at the car park for $6 per car.
In the event of inclement weather, activities will move to covered spaces, including the Heritage Amphitheatre, Main Pavilion, picnic shelters and the Community League Plaza.
