Holiday magic is made year after year by Ballet Jörgen’s beloved production, The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition. Created by acclaimed choreographer Bengt Jörgen to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, this enchanting ballet brings warmth and wonder to the holiday season.
Inspired by a partnership with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, this uniquely Canadian Nutcracker features over 100 vibrant costumes and stunning backdrops. Iconic paintings by Group of Seven artists set the scene as Klara journeys through snowy landscapes filled with lumberjacks, Mounties, woodland creatures, and magic.
Based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s classic tale, the ballet’s second act features delightful animal characters and dreamlike dances. Klara’s adventure ends with a breathtaking pas-de-deux performed by Lord and Lady Birch as they guide her safely home.
A festive tradition for all ages, Ballet Jörgen’s Nutcracker is a celebration of Canadian artistry and the joy of the season. Experience the show that audiences return to year after year.
