Events Description

The Reel Rock Film Tour, one of climbing’s greatest celebrations comes to Saskatoon with a new collection of world premiere films. In the High Road, the powerful and bold Nina Williams tests herself on some of the highest, most difficult boulder problems ever climbed. In United States of Joe’s climbers collide with a conservative coal mining community in rural Utah, to surprising results. And in the The Nose Speed Record, legends Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honald battle Yosemite dirt bags Jim Reylonds and Brad Gobright in a high stakes race for greatness.

The Reel Rocks tour is hosted by The Ladies of Rock climbing Initiative. Ladies of Rock is an initiative that aims to provide women who are leaving relationships dominated by domestic violence the opportunity to experience the benefits of rock climbing. The initiative was founded in 2019 with the goal of empowering women through community, partnership, and delivery of the Ladies of Rock Program: a gym and rock climbing program tailored to these brave women. The Program was developed in close consultation with Saskatoon Interval House, a local women’s shelter, and will be delivered through the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) Saskatchewan Section (SK Section) as a pilot in 2020.
