Events Description
When the Cathedral of Notre-Dame’s roof and iconic spire burned in 2019, the French government voted to restore the building as closely as possible to its original structure. The meticulous reconstruction revealed much about 13th century building techniques, and the project was not unlike those of historically-informed music group trying to reconstruct the sounds of early music using original techniques and instruments. In this multi-media exploration of the iconic cathedral, we’ll feature glorious music composed during her long history as we ask why it seems so important to us to revere certain works of art as they were conceived and brought into existence by their long-dead creators.
