Events Description
Following the spectacular, sold-out success of last year’s NY80 celebration, the same acclaimed production team returns to the historic Allan Slaight Auditorium on November 25.
Exactly 50 years to the day after The Band stepped onto the stage at Winterland for their legendary farewell concert, a lineup of 20 iconic Canadian alternative and roots acts will gather for a massive, one-night-only musical celebration.
Hosted by Indie88’s Lana Gay, LW50 is a contemporary, multi-artist reimagining of one of the most influential songbooks in rock history. Backed by an all-star house band under the direction of renowned producer Aaron Goldstein and featuring the celebrated Northern Soul Horns, this celebration features a lineup of the country’s finest vocalists and musicians delivering rare, collaborative interpretations.
The evening will beautifully span the entire collaborative era of Bob Dylan and The Band—delving into their historic 1965 electric performances, the beloved Basement Tapes, and their legendary mid-70s arena years, culminating in the timeless material showcased at The Last Waltz.
“Bob Dylan meeting The Hawks in 1965, just around the corner from Massey Hall, remains one of the most pivotal moments in rock history—and it’s a Canadian moment,” said Howl Entertainment’s Dale Gago, the event’s executive producer. “Following the incredible energy of NY80, we are excited to return to this room to celebrate The Last Waltz and the incredible collaborative music they made together on this historical anniversary. And once again to support MusiCounts!”
All, net proceeds from this exceptional evening will be donated directly to MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity, supporting the next generation of musical talent across the country.
