Events Description
Ukrainian Canadian Advocacy Group presents Carol of the Bells: A Ukrainian Christmas in Music
Enjoy seasonal music performed by Composer and Jazz Accordionist Taras Luka and his Quintet, and the Kolo Ukrainian Choir in Carol of the Bells: A Ukrainian Christmas in Music, a fundraiser for the Ukrainian Canadian Advocacy Group’s Recovery Program for Children Traumatized by War.
This musical kick-off to the holiday season also features Ukrainian handicrafts for sale and carolling, all in the festive setting of a beautifully decorated ANNEX.
The program for the evening includes an array of traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols. The concert derives its name from “Shchedryk,” the stirring 1916 New Year’s song by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych about a little swallow; “Shchedryk” would eventually be adapted into one of the world’s most recognized Christmas songs, “Carol of the Bells.”
