Vancouver Chopin Society with Early Music Vancouver present Eric Guo
Canadian pianist and rising star Eric Guo makes his Vancouver debut. A laureate of the Chopin Competition on Historical Instruments in Warsaw (2023) and the Canadian Chopin Competition, Eric will perform a programme of Chopin’s works on EMV’s 1819 Graf piano, built by master instrument maker Paul McNulty.
Winning 1st prize at the Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw 2023 (with Mazurkas Prize) led to performances at prestigious festivals: Dvorak Prague (Czech), Nohant Chopin (France), Duszniki Chopin (Poland), Chopin and his Europe (Warsaw), Bolzano Festival Bozen (Italy), Golden July Music Festival (Vienna), Frost Chopin (Miami), Rockport Music, Paderewski Festival (Raleigh), etc.
His competition CD was released by Chopin Institute during his recitals on Chopin’s 214th birthday in Żelazowa Wola and Warsaw Philharmonic, and broadcasted on CBC and Radio-Canada’s 175th anniversary of Chopin’s death.
He has appeared alongside numerous orchestras: Royal Philharmonic, {oh!} Orchestra, Collegium 1704, Bach Collegium Japan, Ural Youth Symphony, Brescia Master Orchestra, Fort Worth, Minnesota, Toronto Symphony, Drummondville Orchestra, Mississauga Symphony. Named CBC’s 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30, and the Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Arts Grant in Piano.
