Maestro Tausk opens the 2025/26 season by welcoming one of the brightest rising-stars on the classical music scene, pianist Alexander Malofeev, to dazzle audiences with Tchaikovsky’s grandiose First Piano Concerto. Don’t miss the VSO debut of an artist known for making “a monumentally thunderous impression with his music” (The Los Angeles Times). Richard Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra never ceases to excite with its iconic “sunrise” opening fanfare, instantly recognizable from Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Missy Mazzoli’s Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres) encircles the listener in a solar system of sound.
