Events Description
When Icelandic settlers arrived on the shores of Lake Winnipeg survival in the Interlake region required adaptation, collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge.
This year’s theme celebrates resilience through community. It recognizes the layered histories that define the region and honours the contributions of community groups whose lives became intertwined on these shores.
Graphic waves symbolize the lake and the movement of knowledge across water. Layered within the landscape are natural elements: fish, sunflower, Saskatoon berries, and wheat, which represent the communities who shared their ways of gathering, growing, and sustaining food with newly arrived Icelandic settlers.
