CRAFTED 2023: Winnipeg’s Massive Craft Show Returns This Weekend

CRAFTED, running from November 1 to 5, 2023, at the Winnipeg Art Gallery—Qaumajuq, promises a beautiful blend of art and shopping that’s bound to delight supporters and lovers of handmade craftsmanship.

 

This remarkable craft show is presented in partnership with esteemed organizations like the Manitoba Craft Council, Northwest Territories Arts, Nunavut Development Corporation, Avataq Cultural Institute, and the Nutatsiavut Government.

The event kick-off with the CRAFTED 2023 Fashion Show on November 1. Starting at 6 p.m., the doors open to a runway experience featuring over 200 looks from designers from Manitoba, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Nunavik, and Nunatsiavut. The runway weaves through five exhibition galleries, and as the show concludes, there’s a champagne reception complete with hors d’oeuvres – a perfect fashionista’s evening!

The event promises an opportunity to shop the designs featured in the fashion show, and you can upgrade your wardrobe with unique pieces while supporting local and Indigenous designers, whether they’re emerging talents or seasoned artists.

New this year is Living Lookbook, an up-close and personal encounter with accessory designs seen on the runway. Prior to the runway show, from 6 PM, attendees can stroll through a Living Lookbook featuring models showcasing jewellery, handbags, hats, scarves, and more, all crafted by the talented artists of CRAFTED.

The organisers are also promising a shopping experience where you can explore the creations of over 100 artists whose works span a wide range of mediums, including textiles, glass, wood, metal, clay, and more.

Christmas Events and Activities in Winnipeg

CRAFTED is not just about shopping; it’s also about giving back. This year, they’re collaborating with Lourdes Still of Masagana Flower Farm & Studio to offer a DIY Floral Dye Kit, with proceeds benefiting Sunshine House, a Community Drop-in and Resource Centre in Winnipeg focused on Social Inclusion and Harm Reduction.

The art-meets-shopping extravaganza runs from November 3 to November 5, with doors open on Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets are available online and at the door for $10, and Indigenous peoples and children under 12 get in for FREE!
