Ontario Reports 5000+ COVID-19 Cases, Hits a New Daily Record

Ontario is reporting a record high of 5,790 new COVID-19 cases today.

The previous high of 4,812 was reported on April 16th of this year.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began now stands at 667,353.

The number of hospitalized stands at 440, up by 20 and 169 in the ICU, an increase of 1 from yesterday.

Today’s case count is also the highest daily case count reported by a province since the pandemic began in  Canada.

It is expected that case counts will continue to rise daily as Omicron spreads more rapidly than other variants.

Ontario has limited the indoor capacity of venues and shopping centres to 50 per cent, limited the number of people to sit at a table to 10, requiring bars, restaurants, meeting and event spaces and strip clubs to close at 11 p.m, restricted indoor social gathering limit to 10 and outdoor limits to 25 to combat the spread.
