If you’re looking for something a little different to do in Calgary this May long weekend, Downhill Karting at WinSport might be worth checking out.

Reopening for the 2025 season on May 17, this gravity-powered kart ride offers a fast-paced experience on a 1.8-kilometre track filled with sharp turns and steady descents.
Set at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park, the activity involves riding a part-go-kart, part-toboggan vehicle down a custom-built track that drops 100 metres in elevation. Riders control their speed using a simple handlebar brake system, allowing each person to choose how fast or slow they want to go.
The attraction is open to a wide range of ages and skill levels. Children over 110 cm tall and at least six years old can ride alone, while younger children over 85 cm and aged two or older can ride with an adult. Getting to the top of the track is half the fun, too, as you’ll ride a chairlift up before starting your descent.
Prices start at $32 for two rides, with multi-ride and family packages also available. With over 50 twists and turns, many visitors find that one ride just isn’t enough.
Downhill Karting will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day during the holiday weekend.
