Calgarians with a few lingering reminders of past relationships will have a place to leave them this Valentine’s Day, and it comes with a charitable twist.
Junk King Calgary is hosting a “Dump Truck” event on Saturday, February 14, inviting singles to drop off items associated with former partners.
The company will park its red truck at 200 Auburn Bay Blvd. S.E. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering free disposal for everything from heart-shaped pillows to old photographs.
For every item placed in the truck, Junk King Calgary will donate $1 to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
The event is positioned as a way for people to clear out reminders of past relationships while supporting a health-focused cause. Organizers say the goal is to give those nursing heartbreak an opportunity to start fresh, without the clutter.
Junk King Calgary describes itself as an eco-friendly junk removal company serving the region.
Participation is straightforward: bring an item tied to an ex-partner and toss it into the truck. There is no cost to take part, and each contribution adds a dollar to the fundraising total.
For anyone looking to part ways with symbolic baggage this Valentine’s Day, the opportunity runs for one afternoon only.
