Symphony in the Gardens – Toronto Concert Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Kerry Stratton at Casa Loma | Tuesdays, till August 25, 2015 | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
1. Apocalypsis
Luminato Festival presents Apocalypsis, an epic musical voyage written by acclaimed Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer and reimagined by Lemi Ponifasio of New Zealand’s MAU with musical direction by Toronto conductor David Fallis (The Toronto Consort, Opera Atelier). 1,000 musicians and artists from across Ontario bolster some of the best local and international talent around: from multi-disciplinary artist Nina Arsenault, Tony Award-winner Brent Carver, dancer Denise Fujiwara, Polaris Prize-winner Tanya Tagaq, rising New Zealand opera star Kawiti Waetford, and the voice of renowned performance artist Laurie Anderson.
2. Holst the Planets
You can’t help but be moved by Holst’s incredible astrological work depicting the seven planets of the solar system. Stay after this late-night performance for an audience-wide party featuring the salsa beats of Guaracha y Son.

8. Ancient Poetry, New Melodies
This is the first concert in Toronto that joins choir, recitant, and traditional Chinese orchestra, pairing poetry from the Tang Dynasty with music from the 20th century. Join us on this exciting adventure as we explore another aspect of Chinese culture – the ancient literary arts and its influence on music.
9. A Symphonic Zoo
Luminato Festival. Bring the entire family for an afternoon of fun as Luminato Festival wraps in grand style, filling the Festival Hub’s Garden of Light with music inspired by animals. The TSO’s RBC Resident Conductor Earl Lee joins Music Director Peter Oundjian in A Symphonic Zoo, featuring selections from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Stravinsky’s Firebird, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf*, the Bulldog from Elgar’s Enigma Variations and the Mule from Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite.
