Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada is bringing back Ballet by the Ocean for its fifth season, offering audiences a one-of-a-kind experience that blends live dance, gourmet food, and the natural beauty of New Brunswick’s coastline.

Teaming up once again with Dieppe’s Atelier Tony—also marking its fifth anniversary—the company is inviting guests to take in original choreography while enjoying dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.
Set along the scenic shores of the Northumberland Strait in Grande-Digue, the performances take place through July 3rd to August 9th outdoors on a protected wetland. It’s not your typical stage—think open sky, ocean breeze, and birds flying overhead. Artistic Director Igor Dobrovolskiy, who leads most of the choreography, describes it as “totally immersive,” with guests surrounded by nature and movement all at once.
This year’s program includes a new piece created by Ballet Master and Rehearsal Director Eldiyar Daniyarov, and a featured performance by mezzo-soprano Aurélie Cormier. The goal? To bring the art closer to nature—and the audience closer to the art.
Of course, food plays a significant role too. Chef Jordan Holden of Atelier Tony, who earned a silver medal at the 2025 Canadian Culinary Championship, is once again in charge of the menu. He’s known for using ingredients grown and foraged locally, some just metres from the dining area. “It just makes sense,” he says. “We’ve got amazing farms, the ocean, forests—it’s all right here.”
Since the event takes place in a sensitive natural environment home to over 100 bird species, attendance is limited to keep the space protected. That means smaller crowds and a more intimate, up-close experience.

According to my experience, I would rate this a 6/10. The dancers were wonderful and so was the surroundings. However, I was really looking forward to the food experience but we only got a piece of pie which tasted
and looked like store bought pie. From my experience, I would not recommend this activity to anyone and especially at that price. Our whole party was quite disappointed.
