LYNN CANYON PARK & SUSPENSION BRIDGE
Opened more than 100 years ago, Lynn Canyon is the perfect outdoor destination for your family. With a selection of hiking and walking trails, picnic areas and popular swimming holes, the park also gives visitors access to the suspension bridge which hangs 50 meters above the canyon. LYNN CANYON ECOLOGY CENTRE
We are listing this as a separate destination because, although it is located at the Lynn Canyon Park, it is not necessary to visit the park in order to enjoy this center, or vice versa. Kids can learn about the animals and birds of the area, as well as the ecology and natural history through interactive exhibits and interesting talks. GROUSE MOUNTAIN
Where should the list start? With both winter and summer activities available here, this is a year-round destination for the family. Kids will enjoy skiing, boarding, sliding and skating during the winter. Check out the year round Skyride, which is North America’s largest aerial tramway system, and which gives you the most excellent of views. Details
GROUSE MOUNTAIN ZIPLINES
There is so much going on at Grouse Mountain that we thought that this activity was worth a separate mention as an activity for kids. This 5-line zipline experience will have your kids gasping in excitement. Riders must weigh a minimum of 70 pounds in order to ride, but there are no age restrictions. EYE OF THE WIND
This attraction is also located on Grouse Mountain but is such a unique experience that it needs to be considered a destination on its own. This is the worlds only wind turbine that allows visitors to stand in a clear glass pod at the top of the tower. Along with inspiring views, this is an excellent, once in a lifetime opportunity for your kids to have an up close look at this type of responsible energy. Details
EARNEST ICE CREAM

Probably the best-known site in the Vancouver area, this site offers much more than just the bridge. Families can very easily spend the whole day here. The 450-foot-long suspension bridge hangs 230 feet above the river and is the start of an adventure. Kids will love the treetop adventure, the incredible cliff walk, the story center, and the living forest. NORVAN FALLS
Older kids and children who are used to hiking may find this adventurous walk to be a good use of their energy. This intermediate hike takes about 5 hours round trip and can be completed year-round. The walk is well worth it as the destination is a beautiful waterfall. Take a lunch and some water and hang out looking at this natural wonder. PARK AND TILFORD GARDENS
For some quiet time outdoors with your family, take a wander through these magnificent gardens. On almost three acres of land, this European style gardens has eight distinctive areas featuring different themes, such as Japanese gardens, bridges and hanging baskets. Kids can climb to their hearts content at this center. Even with little to no experience, if your child has an interest in trying out climbing, then this is the destination for them. An adventure like no other, your kids will be in love with flying after this tandem paragliding experience off Grouse Mountain. Minimum age is six years. This activity is only available from June until September, and it is necessary to book in advance. Details
CATES PARK PADDLING CENTER
For a on water adventure, take your kids down to this paddle center, where you can rent two person kayaks, one person kayaks, and paddle boards. It is the perfect place to start your water time. If you want, join one of their tours for even more fun. Details

MAPLEWOOD FLATS CONSERVATION AREA
We can’t talk about outdoor spaces without mentioning this fabulous area. Kids will adore the chance to see one (or many) of the 249-bird species here, or perhaps glimpse the numerous butterflies in the area. Upon arrival don’t forget to look at the signs indicating what wildlife has been spotted in the area recently. We can’t talk about places to go with kids in North Vancouver without mentioning the Quay. The Market is a major destination in this area, with more than 80 specialty shops available.
