The Annual Lions Festival of Lights is set to dazzle Calgary once again.
This much-anticipated event will be officially launched on November 25 by Mayor Gondek, with festivities kicking off at 5 pm.
The grand opening promises an array of attractions, including hot chocolate, cookies, stunning ice sculptures, and a spectacular fireworks show around 6 pm.
The festival is free, but attendees are invited to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Calgary Food Bank, with donations accepted only during the grand opening.
Located at the Confederation Park Golf Course, easily accessible from 24th Avenue just west of 14th Street, the festival is a seasonal highlight, illuminating the city from November 25, 2023, to January 8, 2024.
The display offers a stunning view along 14 St NW, north of 24 Avenue.
This year’s edition is not just a celebration of lights but also a symbol of community spirit and generosity in Calgary.
While parking is available on nearby streets and at the North Hill Shopping Centre, visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot.
A testament to community spirit, the Lions Festival of Lights is a product of dedication and hard work. For 37 years, the Lions Festival of Lights Society, along with Lions from Calgary and surrounding areas, IBEW #254 members, and community volunteers, have been the driving force behind this event. Their commitment, coupled with the generosity of sponsors and volunteers, has been pivotal in bringing this festive spectacle to life.
The festival will be open nightly from 5:30 pm to midnight, except on December 24, 25, and 31, when it extends until 1 am.
