Hamilton has claimed the top two spots in the 2025 CAA Worst Roads in Ontario list, reflecting ongoing concerns about deteriorating road conditions in the city.

Aberdeen Avenue in Hamilton has once again been named Ontario’s worst road by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA), marking its second consecutive year at the top of the provincial list.
The street has been a growing concern since 2021, when it first appeared on Hamilton’s regional list and escalated to the provincial spotlight in 2023 due to ongoing complaints about potholes and inadequate maintenance.
Barton Street East, also in Hamilton, secured second place, followed by County Road 49 in Prince Edward County. Both roads have made multiple appearances on the CAA’s Worst Roads list—six and seven times, respectively and are currently in planning stages for upgrades.
This year’s campaign saw a notable increase in public engagement, with over 2,400 roads nominated across 208 municipalities. This marks a 20% rise in roads cited and a 42% increase in participating municipalities compared to 2024.
The CAA highlighted key issues prompting public concern, with 84% of participants citing potholes, 77% overall poor maintenance, and 15% traffic congestion. Despite dissatisfaction from 26% of respondents over the prolonged duration of road work, 85% said they support extended construction if it results in lasting improvements.
Other roads on the 2025 provincial top ten list include Eglinton Avenue West and the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto, Hurontario Street in Mississauga, and Highway 50 in Caledon.
