CAA has released its annual list of worst roads in Ontario.

The annual list is selected after voting by Ontarians during the “annual CAA Worst Roads campaign.”
This year, the nominations for CAA’s Worst Roads were open until April 19th.
After the voting closed, CAA partnered with Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) to verify and compile a list of the top 10 Worst Roads in Ontario, along with the top five Worst Roads in regions across the province.
Some of the biggest complaints from those who participated in the polling were potholes, poor road maintenance, poor cycling infrastructure, and unpaved roads.
In Ontario, 182 municipalities had roads in their communities nominated.
Drivers accounted for the majority of the votes being cast, with cyclists and pedestrians accounting for about a quarter of the votes.

In 2022, Barton Street East in Hamilton won the infamous Worst Roads award in Ontario.
As per the CAA, Barton Street East after ranking fifth place (2019) and third place (2021), steadily climbed to first place due to potholes and severe alligator cracking in the pavement.
Four out of 10 of the province’s Worst Roads are in Toronto – Eglinton Avenue West, Eglinton Avenue East, Lake Shore Boulevard East and Finch Avenue West.
Barker Street and County Road 49 in Prince Edward County, Carling Avenue and Bronson Avenue in Ottawa and Queen Street in Kingston round out the top 10 worst roads in Ontario.
