An Evening with Jane Goodall will see Dr. Goodall share her knowledge and stories collected over more than 60 years as a global conservation icon, beginning with her early discoveries about the chimpanzee in Gombe.
Her Canadian appearances come at an important time for conservation in the country, following Canada’s commitment to conserve 30% of marine and land areas by 2030 in the historic COP15 held in Montreal.
According to Bella Lam, CEO of the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, it is a meaningful time to have Dr. Goodall back in Canada as the country is at an inflection point. Canada’s climate is warming at twice the global average, and over 5,000 wild species are at risk of extinction. The youth and Indigenous partners the organization works with have expressed their concerns about the health of the planet. Dr. Goodall has spent her life working tirelessly for change, and her message of hope and action will be timely and relevant to Canadians when they need it the most.
The event schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday, May 24th, at 7:00 pm in Montreal at Theatre Maisonneuve, Place Des Arts, and
- Saturday, May 27th, at 7:00 pm in Halifax at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, Dalhousie University.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, which is a charitable organization committed to community-centered conservation programs that address climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental inequity.
Dr. Jane Goodall will also attend the premiere of “Jane Goodall’s Reasons for Hope,” a large-format film produced by Science North and award-winning documentarian David Lickley, in Sudbury on May 30. The film will later be available in select IMAX theaters in Canada and the US.
