The experience starts aboard a historic locomotive traversing scenic heritage railways, offering views of striking landscapes while immersing passengers in an atmosphere where dinosaurs once roamed.
The Dino Train experience by the York-Durham Heritage Railway offers a wealth of activities. More than 40 life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs populate the property, from towering T-Rexes to regal Brachiosauruses, meticulously designed to mirror these ancient creatures. The site also includes a Dino Research Centre for educational insights into dinosaur ecosystems and an excavation area where children can pretend to be paleontologists for a day.
Among the attractions are a dino-themed maze, inflatable castles, obstacle courses, and a Mini Explorers Kiddy Train. Visitors can also enjoy a Zoo To You feature, showing how today’s animals evolved from ancient species, and an expert face-painting station. The Dino Train creates a unique blend of adventure and learning, promoting family bonding and creating unforgettable experiences.
This event will run from August 26 to September 3. Prices are $44.99 for adults, $34.99 for children (2-12), and a VIP Dino Train evening pass offering a two-hour experience, including a light show and glow-in-the-dark exhibits, is available for $69.99.
York-Durham Heritage Railway is operated by volunteers and the association aims to preserve and promote the heritage of Canadian railways in South-Central Ontario. The heritage train station, located less than an hour northeast of Toronto, provides a historic train ride through the Oak Ridges Moraine onboard refurbished 1950s heritage coaches.

We booked the Dino Train Experience Event and couldn’t have been more disappointed. What a horribly plan event! My kids left in tears! The website was filled with false advertising to lure persons into buying tickets! Said there was going to be a water amusement area, bouncy castles, and all sorts of activities that were no where to be found. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happened on the train. We just sat there while it drove for a few minutes and turned back then drop us off back at the station. No staff was anywhere to be found on the train! We kept waiting for the “experience” to begin…. Absolutely awful! We demanded a refund and got ghosted! No response to emails, no call backs. Wasted over $200!
