Minimum wage workers in five provinces will receive a pay increase when new rates take effect on October 1.
The minimum wage is the lowest hourly wage employers must pay employees and has increased in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
The new minimum wage, effective October 1, 2025, is as follows:

With October 1st minimum wage increase in other provinces, Alberta now has the lowest minimum wage in the country at $15. Alberta’s minimum wage was last increased in 2019.
The federal minimum wage is $17.75 per hour and applies to workers and interns in federally regulated private sectors, including banks, postal and courier services, and interprovincial air, rail, road, and marine transportation.
Federally regulated employers must pay an employee the minimum wage mandated by the province if the minimum wage in that province is higher than the federal minimum wage.
