Toronto is set to host a groundbreaking exhibition featuring the world’s largest collection of original and authenticated Banksy artworks.
Scheduled for May 29, 2024, at the Lighthouse Artspace, “The Art of Banksy” exhibition will present more than 140 original and authenticated pieces from the elusive artist, including sketches, stencils, prints, canvases, and ephemera that have never before been displayed in Toronto.
Unique features of the exhibition include:
- The North American premiere of Banksy’s take on the Mona Lisa, a piece known for its departure from the original’s tranquil setting.
- Over 140 original and authenticated Banksy artworks, making it the world’s largest collection of its kind.
- The exhibition marks the return of “The Art of Banksy” to Toronto, following a sold-out presentation in 2018 and successful tours across major U.S. cities.
- Special exhibits such as the global exclusive of the first-ever Flower Thrower and new extended displays focusing on Banksy’s Dismaland and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
- Personal stories from Banksy’s printer, offering unique insights into the creation of some of the world’s most famous images and the artist’s headline-grabbing street art stunts.
Curated by Michel Boersma and produced by GTP Exhibitions Ltd., the exhibition is presented by Starvox Exhibits, renowned for its immersive art experiences like “Immersive Van Gogh” and “Immersive Disney.”
This event, not directly authorized by Banksy, promises to be an unmissable opportunity for anyone interested in contemporary art and the social commentary woven through Banksy’s work.
