Ontario’s signature museum opened in 1914, and to celebrate the milestone Royal Ontario Museum will be free on March 23 and 24, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Visitors can enjoy the special exhibitions “Death: Life’s Greatest Mystery” and the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year,” as well as the last chance to see Zuul, an exceptionally well-preserved ankylosaur skeleton named after a character from the 1984 Ghostbusters film. Zuul, known for its distinctive armored body and sledgehammer-like tail, hails from the Late Cretaceous Period and was discovered in Hill County, Montana, USA.

The “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” competition, running since 1965, showcases a hundred of this year’s most remarkable images, reflecting the diversity of life on Earth through various categories, including Animal Portraits and Urban Wildlife. These images offer emotive and surprising glimpses into the lives of animals and the challenges they face, presented with exceptional quality and depth.

No tickets are required for entry, but guests are advised to anticipate potential wait times due to high visitor volumes and building capacity restrictions.

Access to the museum will be exclusively through the Weston Entrance on Queen’s Park.

Additionally, the ROM has reintroduced its Third Tuesday Nights Free program, offering free access to all galleries, including the aforementioned special exhibitions, on the third Tuesday night of each month from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, with no advance booking required.
