This fall, Edmonton can expect the arrival of some well-known American fast-food chains. Plus, beyond those new options in the city a few notable local eateries have opened in the past month.

All of these new restaurants in Edmonton offer up something completely new for your brunch, lunch, or dinner plans and new places to catch the Oilers this season. And with the holidays approaching, these new restaurants and fast food locations in the city are worth considering for Thanksgiving or later holiday plans.
Epic Market
The new Epic Market in Whyte Ave.’s equally-as-new Station Park is a unique opportunity for anyone on 82nd! Think of Epic Market as a large food hall- one with two floors of dining opportunities.
Throughout those two floors are five distinctly different restaurants: Osteria (Italian cuisine), Petite (French-Canadian cuisine), Pueblo (Mexican cuisine), Maneki (Asian fusion), and the Char Chophouse. These five experiences were all curated by one chef, Oliver Butterworth.

Leopold’s Tavern
The Orchards neighbourhood in south Edmonton recently welcomed the city’s newest Leopold’s Tavern.
The Canadian pub, with an existing location on Whyte Avenue, is well-known for its elevated pub foods, and as a place to gather for an Oiler game (or Flames, Jets, Canucks, depending on the location!). The large and spacious location is a great place to gather for any occasion, and it has a patio for those warmer days.

Chick-fil-A
Head to West Edmonton Mall’s Phase 3 food court to try Edmonton’s first Chick-fil-A! The popular American fast food restaurant is known for its chicken sandwiches, and chicken in various forms. Pretty soon, this won’t be the only location. The company is set to open another Chick-fil-A in South Edmonton Common by 2025.

Chipotle
Edmonton recently welcomed the city’s first-ever Chipotle, a beloved American chain for southwestern casual dining. Expect to wait in a bit of a line, as the new Calgary Trail Chipotle draws a crowd! A few key items that the chain is known for include burritos, burrito bowls, and quesadillas.

Jinya Ramen Bar
Jinya Ramen Bar are part of a large group of restaurants that spread across North America. And while Edmonton may not be the first Canadian location for Jinya, this is the first-ever location to open in the city! They opened up in downtown in mid-September to the delight of many local ramen fans.

Lawsons Fish & Chips
The Lawson family have been involved in seafood since 1987, but just opened their first Edmonton location for fish and chips. Lawson’s Fish & Chips in northwest Edmonton offer Edmontonians ethically sourced Atlantic seafood, and more specifically, cod, sole, or haddock. And all of the chips are made from Alberta-grown potatoes.

Thanksgiving Dinners and Brunches

Eats on 118th
The Eats on 118th Tours started in late September and will be back for October 3rd by popular demand. The events involve a guided tour of three different restaurants on Alberta Avenue with a set menu waiting for you at each location. Along the way, learn about the restaurant history, the chefs behind the menus, and general Edmonton history!

This one-of-a-kind event marries art and gastronomy and has never been seen in Canada. DARK at Fort Edmonton Park
While the DARK event at the Fort is about a whole lot more than food, the festival is an excellent opportunity to find Halloween themed snacks and spooky cocktails or mocktails. The event features four “haunts” in total, each with a different theme, along with live music, food trucks, and additional activities.

Refinery: 2124 at the AGA
Since August, the Art Gallery of Alberta have had a few different celebrations to mark the gallery’s 100th birthday and anniversary. And this fall, right in time for Halloween, the AGA will use their annual Refinery event as a big birthday bash. With a theme of 2124, guests can expect a futuristic and galactic vibe while enjoying live music, dancing, art, food, and drinks.
