North Rustico, a seaside community on Prince Edward Island, has become a popular holiday destination thanks to its vibrant Christmas light displays and festive activities.
A longstanding tradition, the community creates the most dazzling holiday decorations that attract visitors across the Island, including bus tours that now make North Rustico a holiday season stop.
While the Christmas festivities began two weeks ago, on December 12th, you can enjoy the sights with a magical carriage ride through the twinkling lights.
The Christmas Light Carriage Rides are scheduled for December 12, 17 & 19, from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Starting at the North Rustico Fire Department, rides are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12, with payments accepted in cash only.
Plus, the Hot Chocolate Trail celebration is currently ongoing, with Cricker’s Creamery (24 Harbourview Dr) offering a special hot chocolate treat.
If you are still looking for a special PEI-made gift, Rustico Bay Wool Sweater Company at 7218 Main St offers various knitwear, including MacAusland wool blankets and sweaters.
The Central Coastal Tourism has published the Christmas Lights Map depicting locations with the most exquisite decorations for those looking to explore the picturesque light displays. These include James Gallant’s famous display on Allen Street, Autumn Lane, Spring St, Gulfview Crescent, Timber Lane, Hilltop Avenue, Marshall Street, Harbour Drive, Riverside Drive, Line Road, and Pond Street.
The Christmas displays will remain up through the New Year, making North Rustico a perfect holiday getaway.
