Ottawa residents ad visitors will be able to ride for free on all OC Transpo services during the weekend of May 3 and 4. The citywide Free Service Weekend includes all buses, O-Train Lines 1, 2, and 4, as well as Para Transpo.

This temporary fare-free initiative is OC Transpo’s way of thanking current riders and encouraging more people to explore the updated transit network, including the recently introduced “New Ways to Bus” system.
Riders can board without tapping a card or purchasing a fare, as fare gates at O-Train stations will remain open throughout the weekend. Para Transpo customers will also be able to book their trips at no cost by phone or through the My Para Transpo app.
The weekend isn’t just about getting from point A to B — it’s also an invitation to rediscover the city by transit. With unlimited access, OC Transpo is encouraging riders to explore Ottawa’s neighbourhoods, attractions, and businesses using public transportation.
Adding to the weekend’s activities, OC Transpo will host a public event at Hurdman Station on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The gathering will feature their mascot, OC Owl, and provide information on service upgrades, accessibility improvements, and safety measures. The event is geared toward families and transit users interested in learning more about what’s new on the system.
No registration or ticket is needed to ride. Simply show up and enjoy the weekend on board.
