Escape to the stunning Muskrat River in Pembroke and indulge in a thrilling river tubing adventure with O’Kenny River Tubing.

image

Situated on a picturesque 4-acre property owned by O’Kenny Craft Spirits, this tubing experience combines the serenity of a lazy river with the excitement of rapids.

O’Kenny River Tubing provides visitors with all the necessary gear for an exhilarating river tubing experience.

The Muskrat River offers the ideal blend of calm stretches and exciting rapids, making it perfect for tubing. Inexperienced kayakers may find it challenging to navigate the shallow spots with rocks, but these same rocks create a fun and safe self-guided tubing experience.

A briefing on river conditions and directions for a safe self-guided tubing run is provided before visitors embark on their adventure.

Tubes/Rentals

Upon arrival, visitors can rent deluxe river tubes designed specifically for running shallow and rocky rivers.

O’Kenny River Tubing recommends bringing personal life jackets and paddles, although rentals are available for those who need them.

When to Go:

O’Kenny River Tubing offers tubing runs every day at 1 p.m., with a capacity of 80 to 120 tubes. In case the regular 1 pm run is fully booked, additional runs at 4 p.m. or 10 a.m. may be opened.

Visitors are advised to arrive 30 minutes before the briefing on weekdays and 1 hour before on weekends to allow time for registration and preparation. It is important to arrive early to avoid delaying the briefing and the start time for everyone. The briefing is held at the Tasting House of Norki’s Snack Shack.

The duration of the tubing adventure can vary based on two factors: the river’s flow, which is influenced by the season and recent rainfall, and the amount of paddling visitors choose to do. The river’s speed determines how fast visitors move, while personal paddling can be adjusted to individual preferences.

How to Plan:

The launch point and exit point on the river are an 8 minute drive apart and O’Kenny River Tubing offers a shuttle service that ensures visitors’ vehicles are waiting for them at the end of their tubing run.

The shuttle service is available for a flat fee, and parking is free at the distillery. It is recommended that only the driver of each group use the shuttle service.

In addition, O’Kenny River Tubing provides videos of tubers on the river under different conditions on their Facebook and Instagram accounts (@O’Kenny River Tubing). Real-time data on river flow, river level, and water temperature, obtained from a monitoring station on the river, is closely monitored to ensure safety.

Where to Eat & Stay

Fuel your river adventure at O’Kenny BBQ with grilled favourites like burgers, sausages, chicken burgers, hot dogs, and veggie options, plus assorted sides. Stop by before or after tubing for a satisfying meal outdoors.

Additionally, Westwinds Restaurant (1 International Dr, Pembroke) and The Big Stop Restaurant (1751 Paul Martin Dr, Pembroke), just a short walk across the road, offer more choices for those looking to satisfy their hunger.

If you book a week in advance, you can enjoy craft spirit tastings and learn about O’Kenny Craft Spirits and distilling spirits.

For visitors looking to extend their tubing adventure and relax in the picturesque surroundings, O’Kenny River Tubing provides new tent campsites along the river and parking lot sites for RVs. Bathrooms are available at the distillery, Pansy Patch Park and the Waterfront Park. There is also a hotel adjacent to the property and another hotel just across the road, offering comfortable and convenient accommodation options for all.
