A crowd at Humber Polytechnic got more than a typical campus event this week. They watched a world record take shape, one kick at a time.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest game of human foosball, with 254 players stepping onto a custom-built 150-by-68-foot field. The match ended 12–9, but the result almost felt secondary to the spectacle.
“It is my honour to officially recognize OLG as the record title holder,” said Chloe McCarthy, who presented the plaque on site.
The event leaned into fun, with a brass band and a crowd of onlookers, but it also pointed to something more practical. Organizers tied the record attempt to broader support for soccer across Ontario.
According to OLG, partnerships with Ontario Soccer and the City of Toronto’s Soccer for All Legacy program will help train more than 5,000 new coaches and 6,000 match officials over the next two years. The focus is on the people behind the game, those who keep local leagues running.
OLG President and CEO Duncan Hannay called the moment a celebration of community effort, while Ontario ministers including Stan Cho and Neil Lumsden pointed to the way sport can bring people together.
