Experience a Halloween like no other with Canmore Cave Tours in Rat’s Nest Cave under Grotto Mountain.
Rat’s Nest Cave is a natural wonder rich in geology and paleontological marvels. With over four kilometres of tunnels showcasing ancient stalactites, stalagmites, and remnants of creatures from eons past, this subterranean gem serves as a window to Earth’s prehistoric epochs.
The cave’s limestone origins trace back nearly 350 million years, with its formation shaped by both tectonic actions and the ebb and flow of the Bow Glacier.
Beyond its natural allure, Rat’s Nest Cave also whispers tales of human history. Archeological finds, such as ancient tools and pictographs, indicate its significance in prehistoric human life around 3,000 years ago.
This Halloween, Canmore Cave Tours offers an unparalleled experience within this mystic cavern.
After a four-year hiatus, they’re reintroducing the in-cave screening of “The Descent,” a cult horror classic. Set 10 stories underground, the screening promises an adrenaline surge.
Starting from the Canmore Cave Tours Office at 129 Bow Meadows Crescent, participants embark on an immersive journey—preparing for the horror with an initial movie segment, then trekking to the cave for the main event.
With the cost set at $169 +Gst and limited to 16 spots per night, the tours run on October 28 and 31, from 6 PM to midnight. Participants must be 18 and adhere to safety gear specifications.
